What to Expect

What should I expect on my first visit?

From the moment you pull into the parking lot at City On A Hill, you’ll feel welcome. At the doors, you’ll be greeted by our caring hosts who are ready to assist you in finding anything you need, from the Starbucks coffee, the computerized City Kids check-in services, or a great seat in the worship center. We can’t wait to meet you!

What should I wear?

What matters to God is what’s on the inside of a person, not the outside (1 Samuel 16:7). At City On A Hill, we feel people should be able to come as they are and not feel judged. We are about you being yourself. If you dress up or dress down, either way, you’ll find yourself fitting right in with people who genuinely care about you.

How long does the service last?

The Sunday morning experience at City On A Hill is roughly 75 minutes.

What is the music like?

Our time of corporate worship is filled with lively, contemporary, powerful music.  Our desire is not to merely put on a show, but to create an atmosphere where you can encounter God in a real, authentic way.  You will hear relevant, theologically-sound songs, and there are times when timeless hymns are used to bridge the gap between the old and new.  For us, it isn’t as much about style as it is about a heart to worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

What are the messages like?

Simple and practical.  We teach timeless truths from the Bible that speak to our lives today. If it’s real life and important to you, you can be sure that City On A Hill is talking about it (and in ways that don’t require a theology degree to understand it).

What about my children?

We love children!  We say often that our children are our most important members.  Our children’s ministry, City Kids, provides an exciting experience for infants through 5th grade.  Our kids' worship space is safe and secure and all of our City Kids volunteers have been background checked and screened. As a parent, you can rest easy at City On A Hill knowing your child is receiving high levels of care, attention, age-appropriate teaching and fun! Click HERE to learn more!

What about my teenager?

At City On A Hill we place a high value on students: they are our future!  We want young people to not only attend our Sunday morning experience, but to also get involved by serving on the Dream Team.  Additionally, your teenager will be able to connect in a City Students small group (a casual gathering made up of friends, food, and real-life talks about God and faith).
